I’ve done this. They like helping daddy work out. Plus when they know they’re going to a park and back they are more willing. I also practiced carrying them on the front so I could also carry my pack. Once I was out backpacking with my kids and this technique came in handy when my little girl injured her self in the mountains of UT <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Like sarbar pointed out, they should be able to go 10 miles. I have to have motivators for my youngest daughter as a reward like:

Fishing
Frisbie
Camp fire that she starts
