Yeah, I'm one of those <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I love the Hiker filter more than any I've ever used <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> though I no longer have it, and rely on pure dumb luck these days that no one has shi shi'd in my water <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

I think when in camp a gravity filter would be beneficial for water in larger vloumes to shower, cook, and drink. If just on the trail then chemicals do make life easier. It would depend on what trail though, as I have seen some AT springs that look like mini cesspools, what with all the flies and bugs and debris in the water <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
