There's our problem. we're doing it all wrong. we need something less permeable than silnylon so we can have a large pouch on our backpacks to fill with lighter than air gas. Then we'll simply levitate and float down the trail.. Of course then we can have discussions between the safety pansies who use helium with commercial supplies and store bought gear versus the truly mega-lite crowd who tried it first before it got commercialized, and use hydrogen cracked from their drinking water by the electricity generated from their home made knee movement generators, and sew their own "Hinden-Ray-way(tm)" levitation gear. (keep it pure!) Hammocks will be a think of the past as Henry Shires will make a Tarptent that floats...
