I don't have experience with the SE, but if you'd be willing to try AR, mid March would be a good time to section hike part of the Ouachita Trail (pronounced WASH-i-tah). That's assuming we're not in the middle of another polar vortex event. If you want easy hiking, start on the Eastern end of the trail. Look for the "Ouachita Trail 2019" group on Facebook for more info. Folks there can help with water availability, water crossing locations, campsite locations, etc. Sorry if this isn't what you're looking for, and good luck in your search.
