You might be slightly hypochondriac. You'll need to speak with the local rangers and biologists about the water quality in your area. I've used the Sawyer Squeeze for awhile now here in the Smokies and western Carolina without getting sick. I believe there are no lightweight backpacking filter to filter out viruses. Lot of the filters you see on REI, Backcountry, or whatever retailer you're shopping at are design to filter out bacteria, not viruses. at least in my shopping experience this has been the case.
