If I were to go the tablet route I think the Nexus 7 would be my choice. Great battery life. Otherwise a basic Kindle for reading. I'm thinking after Christmas will be my time to find a deal. I am in no rush.

I too am farsighted, although a year or so ago (I have almost no concept of time so maybe it was two years) I had to get progressive lenses as I sometimes have difficulty reading fine print now unless I hold it right up to my face. But that makes me seem even odder when reading a label in a store.
