Thinking a bit more about this, provably the only piece of gear that I have not changed are my Black Diamond poles. I bought the cheapest available and they have done the job for years . (before that I though poles were a bit naff)
Recently I purchased a new pair but only because I had a gift voucher to spend, mind you I do like them better.
