That's crazy, no snow in Oregon. Have you looked outside to see if you're really in the mountains? I'm in Indiana, south part, we've had only an inch or two on the ground but it's been there for most of the past month, melts off for a day or two and then snows again. Too bumpy for skiing, you'd just wreck your skis if you tried. The weather people are going crazy, predicting a snowfall of an inch or two and calling it a Winter Storm. This latest one got publicized here like the end of the world and we have two inches on the ground. Another round of it coming through tonight, again the end of the world storm that would have been pretty normal before all the weather had to be exciting.

I was reading the other day that people are taking up snowshoeing because of the poor economy, can't afford to go skiing. I think that must have been written by somebody who never put on a pair of snowshoes. I don't know of anything fun about it.

When I lived in the Ozarks there was one guy who owned cross country skis and he was always on the news in Springfield when it snowed deep enough for him to use them. Unless it's a constant environment people don't buy the gear, I suppose. You'd think that in Washington D.C. there'd be enough moneyed people to have the gear and use it.
