Perry, and Jim, if you have a few friends who are good at spelling and grammar, you should be able to persuade them to read through your manuscript. I have a daughter-in-law who writes and self-publishes mystery stories. Before she publishes, she has half-a dozen people (including me) read through them. Once in a while something will get by all of us, but very, very seldom.
