Ya know, I'm thinking that I'd have to be very careful with sparks from a Caldera Cone Inferno conversion around my winter tent.

Perhaps a screen mesh or even solid aluminum
"flap" secured on a rod-like hinge to cover the slot where one feeds the wood is an answer.

Hmmm... food for thought.
