I've concluded that "reality entertainment" is neither, and choose not to watch. I find more productive things to do with my time - watch paint dry, count the number of bricks in a wall, try to figure out how that stuff got in my ear, etc.

My wife liked "The Apprentice," and finally persuaded (I hesitate to say, "nagged") me to watch the opening episode one year. It took me about five minutes to realize I wouldn't hire any of those bozos, and went downstairs to fond..er, sort gear.

She also tried to persuade me that HGTV was real, too.
