Haven't seen a multifunction device yet with a
battery life in the two week and 10,000 page turns range. I'll look at one when I see that.

Realisticly, I always have a book with me. I have a cell phone and leave it turned off. I hardly ever bring a gps - if I did I wouldn't want to waste the batteries reading books on it.
