I use a carved wooden staff with a small directional compass recessed in the top. I have added a nylon webbing strap and wrapped extra chord for a handle. Also, I've wrapped several feet of line for extra guy lines etc. So I know I won't win the prize and it would not fit what I use anyway. When I add little things to my gear weight on one trip, I end up not using things on the next trip because I added xtra weight and found things to be usless. I have a pile of usefull/useless things.
