I just wanted to take a moment to thank ndsol for holding his/her position and providing an argument from "the other side." You haven't convinced me yet, but you have provided for a refreshing debate.

That article states that "Delaware North has trademarked the name 'Yosemite National Park'".
The phrasing I am quoting strongly implies that prior to Delaware North taking this action, no trademark on that name existed, since it does not state that DN 'purchased' the trademark or that it was 'transferred' to DN. Of course, given how sloppy newspaper reporting can be and how poorly edited most newspapers now are, this might be a misstatement of the facts, but if it is true, then this goes much further than trademarking the name of a hotel.
