Does anyone know what TSA thinks of stakes on a carry-on backpack? Or should I just check the pack? I'm leaving home the knife and stove, but want to carry the fire-striker. Has anyone gotten through security with these things in their pack or will they take them away ... ?? Someone besides me must want to fly somewhere to hike???

What kind of stove are you bringing? I have packed my alky stove in my cookpot, my knife, matches, etc in my duffle bag and checked it in. No problems at all.

go here to see what you can or cannot carry on the plane

Hey saw this thread and wanted to add my 2 cents. I know someone who works for TSA and she said depending on what the stakes look like they probably won't go. She doesn't know of anything against them but generally anything long metal and pointy is usually not allowed. Best bet is to eat the cost of checking a bag. That way you can ensure no hassles. Hope that helps!
