My parents are coming out to visit me in August and I just came back from a trekking trip in Nepal where we trekked the Annapurna Circuit. I was wondering if there was something like a multi-day trekking trip in CO that we could do - obviously not something that long like the Circuit but 3-4 days and staying at hotels in between day-hikes. Not paying would be optimal in these tough financial times!

How do you not pay, and stay in hotels?

Seems like Buena Vista would be a good place to base out of, then do some hiking in the Collegiate Peaks range and surrounding area. Lots of hotels there and many restaurants. You can day-hike Mt. Elbert, highest point in the Rockies, or do a great day hike to 3 14ers up Missouri Gulch, and then there's the Cottonwood Hot Springs (funky hotel there) further south. And throw in a whitewater rafting trip for a day since you're there at the epicenter of that.
