I have my backpacking/bikepacking trip planned up to 20 days, though I do plan to do quite a bit more after that. It's difficult to say how much I can achieve in a late October day with only 7-8 hours of sunlight...

Trip Itinerary

These dates are not to be followed exactly. These estimates are conservative, will have first contact by 10/14 if starting on the 29th.

9/29 - Start in Seward, bike to Exit Glacier Road – 11B

- Harding Ice Field Trail – 8H (roundtrip)
o Possibly stay overnight on the icefield OR hike back and camp on Exit Glacier Road)

9/30 - Bike to Lost Lake trailhead on mile 3.5 on Seward highway – 10.9B

- Hike to south end of Lost Lake, camp there overnight – 7H

10/1 - Hike back to trailhead – 7H

- Bike to Primrose Creek trailhead on mile 17 Seward Highway – 14.4B
- Camp near trailhead

10/2 - Hike to Lost Lake via Primrose Creek Trail – 8.2H

o Camp overnight, explore alpine tundra surrounding Lost Lake.

10/3 – Hike out Lost Lake – 8.2H

- Bike to Ptarmigan Creek Trail at mile 23 Seward highway – 6B
- Hike to Ptarmigan Lake via Ptarmigan Creek Trail – 4H

10/4 - Stay around Lake and surrounding area for a day’s rest ~2H

10/5 – Hike out via Ptarmigan Creek Trail – 4H

- From mile 23 SH bike to Johnson Pass trailhead (southern access) on mile 33 Seward highway – 10B
- Hike in and camp at one of the several campsites near Upper Trail Lake campsites - ~3H

10/6 – Hike to one of the Johnson Lake or Bench Lake campsites - ~10H

10/7 – Rest/explore open alpine tundra - ~2H

10/8 – Possibly one more day of rest

10/9 –Hike back out to southern Johnson Pass trailhead at mile 33 SH – 13H

- Cross road to the Carter lake trailhead
- Hike to Crescent Lake campground via Carter Lake trail, camp overnight – 3.3H

10/10 – Hike out to Carter Lake trailhead - ~4

-OPTIONAL – if running low on supplies and behind schedule, bike to Cooper Landing (16m), or Hope (40.3)

- Bike to Summit Creek trailhead at mile 43.5 Seward highway – 10.5B

- Camp at mile 3 on te trail, approaching the headwaters of Summit Creek – 3H

10/11 – explore the rest of Summit Creek Trail, adventure the alpine zones and look for caribou. Camp wherever, possibly the Devil’s Pass cabin along the Resurrection Pass/devil’s Pass trail – 13H

10/12 – Hike out back to mile 43.5 SH – 15H

- Bike to tenderfoot campsites, stay overnight (if not on Summit Creek Trail) – 2.9B

10/13 – Bike to Hope– 26.4B

10/14 - Bum around Hope! Stock up on supplies, explore and buy a coffee!

- Stay over at Porcupine campgrounds inside Hope

10/15 – Bike to resurrection Pass trailhead via Wagon Rd, then Resurrection Creek rd – 4.3B

- Hike to Caribou Creek Cabin area, set up camp – 7H

10/16 - Hike to Devil’s Pass Cabin (mile 21), set up camp – 14H

10/17 – Attempt to hike back out to trailhead. May stay overnight at Caribou Creek Cabin or Wold Creek campsite (mile 5 in). Option of Porcupine again if hiked out. – 21H

10/18 – Bike to Johnson Pass north trailhead at mile 64 S on the Seward Highway – 22.5B

- Camp at Bench Creek site – 6.5H

10/19 – hike to Bench Lake and beyond to Johnson Lake, set up camp and explore that alpine tundra! Camp at Bench Lake or surrounding area- ~3H + exploration

10/20 – Hike back to trailhead on mile 64 south Seward Highway – 9H

- Either camp at Granite Creek campground OR start making your way to Cooper Landing
