Yes. But there's a lot of cross-over in terminology between the trails. If you're interested, here's one source of long distance culture trail terms and slang. It's a bit AT-centric, but some of those terms are used elsewhere too, such as NERO, NoBo, PUDS, Trail Magic, Vitamin I, Yogi-ing, etc etc.

That's funny that you give that a name because I've sketching out trips based on that plan lately and for exactly that reason. I can hike four hollows with that plan, unload my trash and resupply my food and keep a few beers on ice in my car for a mid hike treat. That's a pretty good plan

I do like to go to the Sipsey Wilderness here in Alabama because of all the loop hike possibilities.
Not exactly a thru-hike, though. Lol.
