Best piece of advice has been given to me many times in the last couple years and in a few different ways, whenever I've considered hiking the AT: "Go do it." Best piece of advice I'd give someone out backpacking would be, "Take care of your body, and feed it well."

Bring a compass. It's awkward when you have to eat your friends .
