As reference the Wikipedia list of Wolf Attacks lists 9 in the US. There was only one in Idaho (in 2010): a lady was frightened by some wolves in her rural driveway. She called he neighbor on her cell phone for help and the wolves dispersed before her neighbor got there.

She wasn't a hiker, she was a hunter blowing an elk cow horn. She was trying to call in a male elk, but called in a wolf instead.
