A drafty flaping tent is much "colder" than a quiet tent. I would shoot for a tent just large enough to suit your needs (not too tall) and then you may want to use additional ropes to tie out the windward side of the tent.

No better tent testers than the homeless! Ive known a few and most opt for Simi framed walls and tarps, probably depends on the area.
