Heather, I would have too say that if I were with a group and someone ended up with a compound fracture, or if I ran into someone with a compound fracture, I would "hit the button" if I had such a device. If we were close to a vehicle I would not, but you get the point. (off topic but when I read PLB I have a sudden urge to try a peanut butter lettuce and bacon sandwich)

Note: I own a SPOT now. Makes my wife happy and that is enough for me.
