What I do with all trailrunners:
1.Always a strip of 1" nylon medical tape up the inside heal, fold over the top.....keeps the heal material from wearing out.
2. I buy the cheapest, thinnest nylon Puritan dress socks I can find at Walmart.
3. Short hikes, 5 miles or so, 1 pair of socks.
4. Long overnight hikes....2 pair (which is still thinner and breaths better than regular socks). Tape and Bodyglide every couple hours of hiking. No hotspots ever if I do that. Sock changes at least twice in a full day, and wash/rinse/dry at day's end. I carry a total of 6 pair, but I double them....they also act as padding in my pack shoulder straps. (GPV4 pack)
