Kev,
No, i just threw it together last week. It's an old Jansport D-3 frame that i stripped of all extra weight. I took off the bag bar shelf, stripped off the pack bag, sawed off the lower frame with a hack saw and viola...El Cheapo Luxury-Lite! I added an 11 ounce G-4 type Rodney pack that i bought used as the pack bag. I threaded the G-4's hip belt through the back of the frame, put the shoulder straps over the top bar and buckled the sternum strap...very secure. The best part is that i have an 11 ounce day pack for side trips and i can just take the pack bag off and bring it into the tent with me...leaving the frame outside. Total weight is only about 3.3 lbs. and it can really carry some weight. I always liked the wings on the hip belt of those old Jansports, just not the weight of them. The one thing i will add is a better set of shoulder straps with a sternum strap. If you want pics, PM me your e-mail.
