I saw that somewhere too-here maybe? That sounds really disgusting to me though. I'd much rather have chocolate or something sweet like that.
btw, I was at an outdoors show a while back and one of the vendors, Oregon Trail, was selling elk sausage and various other smoked meats. The elk was farm raised, like deer and I have to say, it was pretty tasty. It was a good alternative to salami, which I really like. The cost is about the same - $10 a pound.
TomD We have a couple of commercial elk ranches here. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" /> I can pick up an elk roast at the farmers market in Bend. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />Also buffalo and other game <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />- AND - grass fed beef - it is so much better than corn fed beef. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
I've heard of water bottles filled with vegetable oil as the way to get your calories while climbing at high altitude. Jim <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
