I’m planning to visit the Czech Republic, including a hike in Bohemian Switzerland National Park next September, and would appreciate insider advice. Most of my initial research focused on mild weather that time of year. For those familiar with trails there, would guided tours be best or are independent trips also manageable? Any tips on typical conditions, terrain difficulties, local wildlife sightings or safety issues to consider would help immensely. Thank you in advance for sharing your expert perspectives in planning a safe and memorable excursion.

Wow! Great plan. I haven't been, but I certainly hope that you'll post a trip report when you get back!

Thanks, @balzaccom. I'll continue doing my research for more information, and hopefully someone who has hiked in Bohemian Switzerland before can provide additional tips. smile I’ll share my experience when I return.

I found this great resource to supplement my planning to Bohemian Switzerland: Cuddly Nest (search for Bohemian Park Switzerland)

Weather remains pleasant there in September, with warm temperatures but smaller crowds than July/August high season. Winters from October to April can be quite cold and snowy, limiting some trails and facilities.

One of the easier access points from the capital is a direct train, though a bus is also an option. Driving provides flexibility too. Within the park, hiking, camping, climbing, boating and biking await.
Notable rock formations include the largest natural sandstone arch and canyon in Europe. Diverse wildlife like squirrels, falcons, storks and lynx can be spotted from trails and scenic viewpoints.

One thing that I’m still looking for is a local guide who can show me around the park and share some insights and stories. I had a great experience with GoWithGuide when I visited Prague, but I’m not sure if they offer tours to Bohemian Switzerland. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good local guide or tour company? I would appreciate any suggestions.

(Moderator's note: I deleted the links to the Cuddly and GoWithGuide websites, as forum policies generally prohibit such links within a post. If you're interested in either of these resources, please send a private mail (PM) to the poster and ask for the link.)
