For years I've been intrigued with these. And for a much longer time, been disappointed with the usual selection of rain gear offerings. My problem is that although needed the weight , and packed size for the very rare times that I want to use 'em, makes this element :-) by far the heavyest in the pack. These days I've got the time to tackle this as a diy using "breathable" cuben. Used it before so I do have some skills along this line. Also seirra designs currently has 'em( 14 oz/set- premade has it's charms, as well). Could be wrong but it looks like they are the only producer of these. my big question at this point is what are they like to live with? Good points as well as bad. I particularly like the idea of using the chaps for when hiking along overgrown trails with wet vegetation on both sides.

OK.....looks like I'll be breaking a new trail here. Will weight my current rain gear , once I return to Wa. State' mid spring. If there's much of a weight savings. I'll probably spring for the set at just over 100$us. And, of course, let all know my results. Sometime late July/early Aug.
