Just got back from a great little snowshoe on the Herman Gulch trail Sunday, Nov 27th. The hike was about 6 miles RT.
It's a convenient outing, starting at the trailhead 50 yards from I-70 at the last westbound exit before the Eisenhower Tunnel (at 10.4K') and heading up to Herman Lake at 12K'. We didn't put on our snowshoes 'til a quarter-mile into the hike, but there was plenty of snow after that.
It was a cloud-free, no-wind day with a temp. at the start of 35F and probably 25F at the lake. (Not bad, since it'll be below zero up there on Thur.) Here's the pix:Near the start, still not in our snowshoes.
