I originally planned to go hiking at Mt. Sterling the easiest way which consisted of 5.8 miles round trips with 2,000 feet elevation gained. Unfortunately the sketchy one lane mountain road was iced badly at a curve, so I had to back up the Explorer to the last turnoff area. I drove to another area to salvage the day by going to a water fall. I debated hiking 6.6 miles one way to a bald at 5,000 feet, but figure I save it for a backpacking trip.

Oh yeah, I was on the road by the ranger station and saw two big bull elks. I wasn't this close, I was in my vehicle as he was beside the road and the close up is just the zoom feature in work.
