I know there are some Alabama folks on here or there was.. If you're still around can you all recommend a good backpacking spot or five? I'm waiting for the weather get cold before I venture out. The humidity is horrible down here. grin

Of course we want trip reports, please! The descriptions I read look quite interesting!

Note that billstephenson (in the Ozarks) doesn't hike during the summer either! After suffering through the Gettysburg reenactment and another week in Ohio, I can see why! Of course we rarely have such warm and humid conditions out here in the PNW. Today was an exception; there was so much water vapor in the air this morning (foggy!) that my smoke alarm went off!

Will do! smile I took a vacation day for weekend of October 4th, however, this trip is in western North Carolina.
