pre-boiled and dehydrated pasta also rehydrates in cold water. Of course it takes maybe an hour or two.

I recently used dehydrated rotini pasta for a cold pasta salad lunch. Worked very well with a packet of tuna/salmon. I use the Ziploc 16oz screw-top lid containers. Add your pasta and other goodies (except the tuna/salmon) along with the water. Screw the lid on tightly and through in your pack. A few hours later you have rehydrated pasta. Simply stir in your fish and eat.

This could also be used for a cold prep dinner.

As others have mentioned, pre-boiling and dehydrating your pasta saves you fuel on the time on the trail.
