It's basically like a double-wall pepsi can stove. It does act a bit like a volcano when you first light it but then you put your pot on top and it functions as a potstand and the gasses are forced out the small side holes you have drilled rather than center.

The advantage of the aluminum bottle is that it is thicker than the can and so it makes a studier base for your pot. Also the shape of the neck, being thinner than the bottom of the bottle, means you can make a double wall stove with only two pieces rather than the three pieces it takes for a pepsi can stove.
