I'm bike packing-curious and have been gathering cheap bike bags to load my backpacking gear onto an old rigid mountain bike. The trouble is, I live in Colorado so I have a lot of choices, but it seems like all of them are steep and/or technical.

I'm looking for a shake-out ride near the Denver metro area that is mild, but with a few trees for a hammock. I am hoping for a ride that won't kill me or my bike on the first trip.

Does anyone know a likely route in the area?
