Smoke has been horrible here the last 2 weeks--it blew into the whole Pacific NW from multiple forest fires up in BC (oh, Canada! we love you, but not your smoke). Finally we had a change in the weather over the weekend! The heat wave and its accompanying inversion has gone and I can finally emerge from my bedroom, the only air-conditioned room in my house.

Of course dry lightning storms are a feature of the Oregon and Washington Cascades this time of year, and each one seems to start more fires.
