I am planning on going on a short backpacking trip in the Trinity Alps/Russians soon.

I am thinking that one possibility is to park at the Bingham Lake Trailhead and hike up to Bingham lake, then take PCT to the Deacon Lee Trail and camp at Russian Lake. Layover at Russian Lake (probably a day hike to some nearby lake), then to Statue Lake (north on the PCT) for the third night and returning to the Bingham Lake Trailhead the next day. You can see this area near the top-right of the Trinity Alps Wilderness map (East half) - http://www.papermapsonline.com/home/NorthernCalifornia/TrinityAlpsWilderness.aspx Has anyone done this or anything similar? If so, how did it go? Was it too hard to get to the Bingham Lake Trailhead - the map shows it on a road not maintained for passenger cars.

Otherwise, does anyone have some other ideas for a 3 night intro backpacking trip with one layover day in the area that is not too crowded like Canyon Creek Lakes?

Thanks
