Just as a followup--we've had a week of rain and snow in the Cascades that has brought us up to about 100% of average precipitation for this time of year. Fortunately, with not much snowpack previously, we are not yet getting severe flooding. Of course with many feet of fresh snow on top of an icy base, avalanche danger is extreme in the Cascades!

Since these were big storms, they were quite accurately forecast. It's the smaller ones, where ocean conditions and/or high mountains make their own weather, that are a problem. Of course those smaller ones can be equally severe in a local area!
