Ok, let me confess up front, I haven't read all the posts yet. I have read several.

Here's my need/question. I'm starting to prepare our Boy Scout troop for thinking light and cooking light. We'll be taking a day hike in a couple of weeks and I'm looking for meal ideas for a midday meal. We'll have a few stoves available. I hope to not "cook meals" but only heat water. I've got guys from 11 to 16 going, so many different attitudes about hiking/food/outdoors. I'd also like for them to not make "jelly samiches" and haul them for lunch. The plan is to leave "car camp", hike all morning, prepare lunch and eat, hike all afternoon, return to "car camp". Kind of an intro day. I'm trying to keep them light so they'll enjoy the hike.

Ideas and suggestions welcome. Come one come all.
