Gems thread got me thinking. Every so often on a trip I take one or two pics that just really
surpass what I can usually pull off. So I thought I'd start this thread..

Rules - gotta be taken by you, in the 2008 hiking season, on the trail. Should be better
than average <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Stream and foliage, West Coast Trail, British Columbia, June 2008

Here's a couple more. Several of them I have converted in a sepia B&W photos. I think it brings out the sand stone.

Here's three pix from four days in RMNP. They should change the name to World HQ of the Elks Club. There's been an explosion of elk there in recent years. We saw them everywhere. Hundreds on the Tundreads (sic) of the high Trail Ridge Road and on the trail.

Male elk on the Trailridge Road, June 22, '08.

Bull elk and his posse at the trailhead of the Colorado River trail (on our hike to Little Yellowstone Canyon) below the Never Summer Mountains, June 23, 2008.

Female elk, collared, exhaling in the morning air on the Colorado River Trail heading for Lulu City, June 23, 2008.

First fotos taken with my new Canon XSi.

This is taken of me, not by me, but I think it falls within the spirit of the thread.

Here are some pics I have recently taken of one of my favorite rugged trails I love to hike. It can be an ankle buster and the trails is known to have a good amount of Copperheads, but that's what makes it fun.

Great thread idea, and some very cool pics!

Here's a couple of mine, I don't think I have any from 2008 without snow:

Not the greatest picture, but I assume this is a type of salamander. I saw this little guy at Hansons Arch, an odd 20 foot underground arch/ hole in the ground.
