Also, if one really wanted to you can find the foil bags online that are similar to MH and other brands current packaging. Not cheap though and usually you have to buy 100-500 at once.

Freezer bags are rated for use in microwaves btw. They are not rated for being put in pots of boiling water - something that Glad is referring to (ie. the "Ziploc Omelet"). That is where a bag is layed in boiling water in a pan for 10-20 minutes. The point of eating out bags is using hot water (below boiling) and using it as a "bowl". You are not "cooking" the food - the food is all precooked and dehydrated.
Btw, the bags they used to use in MH meals? Those are basically oven bags which you can buy in nearly any grocery store. They are usable in ovens to usually 450* or higher. So yes, they could lie in boiling water for LONG periods. So can vac bags.
Sarah, I'm confused one would think that freezer type bags being thicker and heavier duty, it could hold up better than the flimsy sandwich type Are there brands you prefer? I use /reuse after cleaning, vac seal bags, but they lack the top closure. I find the top closure convient to let the food steep, and if I can't finish it all before I need to attend to other matters in camp, the zip keeps the critters out.

pre-boiled and dehydrated pasta also rehydrates in cold water. Of course it takes maybe an hour or two.
I recently used dehydrated rotini pasta for a cold pasta salad lunch. Worked very well with a packet of tuna/salmon. I use the Ziploc 16oz screw-top lid containers. Add your pasta and other goodies (except the tuna/salmon) along with the water. Screw the lid on tightly and through in your pack. A few hours later you have rehydrated pasta. Simply stir in your fish and eat.
This could also be used for a cold prep dinner.
As others have mentioned, pre-boiling and dehydrating your pasta saves you fuel on the time on the trail.
single packets of olive oil can be found at subway resturants if you ask for them they will probably give you a couple
One of the advertisers here sells those small packets of olive oil if I'm not mistaken. Look at the header of the page to see the advertiser If not through the Porthole here and support the TLB site

When I am at home and we do not have milk for the mac and cheese, I just use water. It works out fine and you do not lose out on any of the taste. Another thing I also add is Tapatio. It can be used on just the Tuna or on the whole casserole.
