Of course I treat my dog's water. He needs it to wash down the turd he just ate <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />.....

Actually, I don't always treat my water, especially at altitude or from springs. I can't imagine treating water for a healthy dog.

Bearpaw -- I almost spit a mouthful of cranberry juice all the couch when I read that. That is too funny.

I agree. I always flush before letting my dog drink especially after that almond roca the cat left her. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

My dog is pretty small so carrying all of his water is no biggie. He doesn't go on long trips. Letting him drink suspect water is just not worth taking the chance IMO. Dogs have robust G.I. tracts but they're not immune to everything.

I kind of liked the washing down of the t__d that he just ate any way. That is very true. A dog can eat "almost" any thing that he wants and not be affected by it. Most dogs have more antibiotics in their system than most doctors keep in their pharmacy. I sure don't think that you have any worries about your dog drinking out of a mountain stream because it is not going to bother him at all unless he has a suppressed immune system and if that's the case he needs to see a doctor any way...No worries about dogs drinking stream water. Let 'em drink....Happy Trekking....sabre11004....
