I've been looking so long for a day pack that I'd given up. Today, my favorite outfitter was unpacking the G.G. order and out came a Vapor Day. I had to have one immediately. 2000cui on Vapor suspension is perfect for three season overnighters or long day hikes. I was so happy that when I got home I called H.H. and ordered a hammock. Almost like being a kid again! I can see it replacing the wisp in their line. If ya like the pack get one this year before they change to one of their weird color schemes, lol.

Nice. I guess that would fit the bill if one needed to carry a bit of weight. Otherwise, that is one heavy 2000 ci daypack. In fact it weighs more than the Vapor Trail.....why?
I think i'll stick with my Vapor Trail...less weight/more capacity! BF
The Vapor Trail has been the best pack (of many) that I've used but it had too much volume for my day use and warm hammock nights. So when this one came out it was the perfect answer for me. The Vapor Day is much more functional as a day pack. I'm not weenie enough to shrink from a couple of ounces.

I guess the question is then - what does the Vapor Day have that makes it so heavy? Give us your specs...please <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
As a side note, the ULA Relay is the same size and although frameless, weighs only 16 oz.
Sorry - what I meant by that is what is the feature set that increases the weight over the VT, given that the capacity is smaller? Essentially what I am asking is why is it heavier? Materials different? Additional features? Because you have one in your hot little hands and also have a VT, you could provide us with your opinion on the differences. Thanks,

I can help answer that. I've also used the Vapor Day and absolutely love it (I'm a GGR rep and have to say that). Seriously, it is a very comfortable pack and has a substantial suspension system.
The thing that causes most the weight on the Vapor Trail is the suspension. Other than that it is simply a bag with only a few straps and a couple of side pockets. The Vapor Day uses the exact same suspension, uses zippers (which weighs it down a bit), and has a large mesh pocket in front. These are the only things I can see that would cause it to be heavier. It uses the same 70D Silicon Cordura Nylon as the VT.
The best part about this pack is that if you can get your gear small enough, it will support 30 lbs. Though it carries the same weight as the Vapor Trail, the size would make it an incredible easy pack to scrample and go off trail in.
Personally it is the best technical day pack I've ever owned. When compared to other manufacturers in this pack category, the Vapor Day has a more substantial, dual density foam waistbelt, dual density foam back, and dual density foam shoulder straps. Most if it's competitors are using diecut shoulder straps and waistbelts (ie. Osprey Talon). Using Schoeller also on the backpanel and inner material on the shoulder straps and waistbelt also give it a step up in durability. Those who have carried the Vapor Trail know how comfortable this suspension is. It also has a large mesh pocket in the front for items that need to be accessed easily. It's awesome!

Is it a panel loader? I see they have one for women, too.
It has clamshell access similar to the Mountain Smith Ghost. It also has a small top zipped pocket for keys, a couple of energy bars, camera, etc. Pretty simple really. The styling is similar to the whole GGR lightweight pack line with side compression straps and more durable material (220D knit Cordura) as the anchor point for these straps. The mesh front pocket is also a good addition without being overly complicated with pockets that would weigh it down. This is not meant to be a college book bag that could be used as a daypack, but, instead, a dedicated day+ pack meant to carry gear in the backcountry.
They do have a women's version. The only difference is that it comes with women's components and is a purple color rather than grey for mens.
GGR could have made this pack lighter by using a less substantial suspension, but they chose to keep it on par with their other Vapor packs. I'm grateful that they did. I think this is what separates it from the crowd.
