A couple of years ago I got a 100% not cotton (nylon, polyester, err, cut the tag off) long sleeve light colored shirt, with the buzz off treatment. Worked very well; the bugs would land, then fly away. Never bitting through.

The shirt was from Ex Officio. Not only do they not have this shirt anymore (and have not returned my email asking why), but the selection of Buzz Off products seems to be kinda small. Isn't this the time of the year for clothing companies to bring out the spring line? And don't those little larva somehow survive the winters to eat us in a couple months?

Looking at LLBean for Buzz Off also; they are listed as a seller of that type of product. None to be found, tried calling them. Wrong number. Twice. Their phone is off?

Swing, miss! Swing, miss! Nothing but air...

Most likely this is a seasonal issue. A few months before hatch, you will see these coming out again.

HOWEVER, consider doing the BUZZOFF thing for yourself. The effect of the permethrine treatment on Ex Officio's BUZZOFF line breaks down over the course of the first year or so and then you're left with a regular shirt.

Look at a standard spray-on permethrine treatment that will treat ANY shirt like Sawyer's line . They are simple to apply and last 6 weeks or 6 washings. I've used them and found them to be very effective. They are a much better deal IMO than buying BUZZOFF clothing.

BuzzOff will/has been rebranded as Insectshield.

According to my ExOfficio rep, It's all about the lawyers.

You can also try bug off by buying it from lyour local hardware store. It only has about 2% Permerthrin but I just let my clothes soak in a bucket for a few hours and then let them air dry.

I applied some Permethrin spray I got at Walmart last year, only place to be found, to a couple heavy shirts to be used only for bp trips. I don't know if it was the shirts or the treatment, but I sure itched when wearing them. Are you saying I have to retreat them? Itch, itch.

It was *probably* the shirts -- I use lightweight synthetic shirts, pants and socks sprayed with the stuff without any adverse affects. Of course, you *could* have some sort of allergy to it...
