Given the money would you purchase a pair of boots from a company such as Scarpa, Vasque, Asolo or something similar or would you spend about $100 more to get a pair of off the shelf Limmer Lightweights. These would be used for mostly weekend hikes with some week long section hikes thrown in a few times a year.

Thanks

Unless you need ankle support or have problems with fit, I would recommend that you look at the lightweight trail shoes or fabric/composition lightweight boots rather than the heavier classic hiking boot. They are less expensive, don't require breaking in, dry faster when they get wet and, in my experience, are more comfortable over-all. I use a pair of Montrail Hardrocks for off and on trail hiking in the high western mountains; the only time I use boots is if I anticipate snow and step-kicking and possible cramponing.

I've had good luck with inexpensive lightweight shoes. I usually buy them from discount sporting good places. I can usually find something for $40 or less. With a little experimenting you might find this works for you too.

If you don't care about money or weight, then go with fit. Whatever fits the absolute best. Everyone's foot is different, and I would have no idea on what fit you.
