I've never heard of the Batona Trail. So I did some poking around when you brought it up:
South Jersey's premier long distance backpacking trail... it also happens to be the only long distance backpacking trail in south Jersey...
Based on:
https://southjerseytrails.org/2018/10/28/batona-trail-camping/Dispersed camping is not allowed, so your 5-day itinerary would be set by choosing 4 of the 5 campgrounds on the trail: Godfrey Bridge Campground, Buttonwood Hill Camp, Lower Forge Campground, Batona Campground, and Brendan Bryne Campground. They are fairly evenly spaced. The closest is Lower Forge to Botana (5.8 miles). The longest is Batona to Brendon Bryne (12.9 miles).
I think a good itinerary would be: Ong Hat to Brendon Bryne (8 miles), BB to Batona (13 miles), Batona to Buttonwood (16 miles), Buttonwood to Godfrey Bridge (9 miles), and Godfrey to Bass River Trailhead 10 miles). I haven't looked to see if there is an advantage to hike in either direction.
