My girlfriend and I are traveling to Denver this June for a 3 day backpacking trip on the Lost Creek Wilderness trail. I am wondering if anyone has any tips for someone like me who primarily hikes on the East Coast. For example, can I use a bear hang bag or do I need a bear container? Thanks

Check out the web site for the National Forest that contains Lost Creek Wilderness to see if bear cans are required. Generally speaking, wherever bear cans aren't required you can get by fine with hanging food. The places that most often require bear cans are National Parks. Few wilderness areas do, mostly in CA.

Lost Creek doesn't require bear canisters. That is cat country though, so storing food well away is definitely a good idea.
