I really like the Fjallraven G-1000 material in that it has more of a tough "canvas" like quality that seems like it would be better than the normal goretex shell for hard-use, abrasion resistance, etc., but can be waxed up to provide decent water resistance. It seems to be better than old fashion cotton canvas-type material in this respect.
But I've had a hard time finding a Fjallraven jacket that fits me well with the right specs. Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative brand? Something that is tough and sturdy but also makes a decent all around outdoors jacket?

I should add that I'd prefer a shell that I could wear over a thin or medium insulation layer when needed. But I live in a warmer climate where the shell will probably be worn alone more often than not.

Thanks in advance.
