"A suite of sensors and circuits mounted to a boot can determine position with an accuracy of about 5 meters, indoors or out, without GPS."

Pretty cool stuff...

The “very hefty” boot might be a bit problematic, but is probably good for toning up the old leg muscles or something.

Mud could make things interesting... smile

But, then, all great technologies started somewhere. I’ve got to think his fellow Swiss laughed at the first soldier who drilled a hole and screwed his scissors to his knife.

Who knows - in 5 years, we may be unable to remember what life was like without smart boots! (I just hope they leave out the spouse-like feature that tells me “you’re doing it wrong. Make a U turn in 200 feet and return to route.”’)

This is something I had never heard about. Sounds wonderful and very useful. Great Birthday gift for my son.
