Welcome. This a good place for information. There are many good articles here to read, many experienced backpackers and a fairly friendly atmosphere. The emphasis here is definitely on lightening up the load, rather than bringing every last thing you might want or conceivably need.

Yeah. We decided last night when we start in spring. We are going to start with some overnight trips at the state parks here in Southeast Mo
