I was wasting time today and found this list of outdoor products.

Some of these things are intended for backpacking, and some of those are a little wacky, but it was fun to look at them...

Man....some of those gizmos are useful, like water resistant down and the "tree tent". Others are re-hashes of old ideas made to look new, and expensive! I like some of the camper ideas.
Those 'seatrekkng' pod ideas have been used since man took to the sea. They are pretty though. grin

They had powdered beer!

I clicked on that one. It said it was non-alcoholic, but a version with alcohol would be coming. The date for that has passed and I looked a little further and couldn't find even the teetotaler kind, so I guess it's still not to be cry

I was surprised to find it was Katadyn that was making it. I really would've like to have tasted it. I've tasted some pretty bad beer so I'm not afraid.

Maybe I should start a petition to help urge them on with this important scientific endeavor grin

What happened to the Colorado dudes who were making beer concentrate--basically high-alcohol beer syrup? I was so counting on them to come through for us.

Am happy one can find microbrews in cans, but that's only one part of the weight battle.

Cheers,

You know, it wouldn't be that hard to make NA powdered beer.
Remember "Fizzies"? Those little Alka-seltzer tablet things that were cola, rootbeer, strawberry flavored, back in the 60's?
Well guess what?!
http://www.fizzies.com/

Wonder if they have an "adult beverage" division they don't advertise? A little dose of Everclear (camp fuel of course) and there ya go! grin

I just found some more neat gear. Not quite as cool as yours but cool nonetheless.

I think those Colorado dudes were called Coors Brewing Co. j/k

IIRC, there was some big hulabaloo a few years back challenging Coors marketing about their Colorado water since they shipped their concentrate to have water added at the bottling facility. Coors called their concentrate "high-gravity beer".

Probably the guys you were thinking of got the idea from the local brewery!

I'll guess "concentrated" Coors could create actual beer. smile

If not Colorado, maybe Alaska?
beer concentrate
"Early 2013" might mean "sometime this decade" for all I know, but at least somebody's on it.

Cheers!

beer concentrate

That's interesting. I've carbonated my own beer before, so it makes sense that you can make a pint sized device to do that, and the one they show is pretty cool. I don't drink any other carbonated beverage than beer, so until the beer part of this is ready I'm left wanting, but it does sound promising laugh

I'd guess from reading the site that he's waiting for patents so he can get some investors to ramp up for production. I'm not sure how important patents are for the beer process, and the carbonator bottle will only get you a design patent.

I think that more important than patents is quality. If he's got that nailed down he's got a market. I'll keep my fingers crossed for his success!
