Botanist had ignored posted warnings and paid the ultimate price.

Grizzly mauling death

But wait, there's evidently a completely other lesson to be learned.

A lunatic chimes in

I need a shower.

It's ashamed the old boy got killed that way, he should have known not to mess with that bear though. It's also ashamed the bear had to be killed. It's just sad.

But that guy who wrote the blog post on the second link is truly one sad sack of stuff.

I agree, I barely moved my mouse over that page and I need to wash my hands with industrial strength mechanics soap.

What's the name of the fallacy where cause and effect aren't related?

Tom and Ray (click & Clack) on NPR have a tee shirt with "Unencumbered by the thought process"

Maybe "appeal to authority"? but I definitely prefer the Click & Clack alternative. IIRC they're also proponants of the tactical Dope Slap, which I recommend vigorously in this instance.

Chaos
Jim

Reminds me of my grandpappies storie of the preacher treed by a bear. He prayed, "Lord if you can't help me then please don't help that bear."

"Post hoc, ergo propter hoc." After this, therefore because of this.

"Lunatic" - a totally appropriate word for that idiot.

Regarding the lunatic...if aliens from another world ever show up, I'm going to be pretty embarrassed about stuff like this.
